Two Week Introductory Program

(an introductory program for girls entering grades 3rd through 7th in the fall)

        Welcome Middlers!

Within a summer of fun, friendship and adventure, our main goal at Lochearn is to help girls grow into confident young women who uphold values of kindness, respect, responsibility and integrity in daily life. Our emphasis on quality instruction based on lesson plans and progressive skill development provides numerous challenges for girls to invest themselves in activities of their choosing, to overcome obstacles of fear and uncertainty, to develop passion in a variety of sport, art and fitness activities and to build confidence and enhance self-esteem.

Each two-week camper (fondly known as a Middler) can create an enriching individually designed activity schedule from our many two-week class offerings in fine and performing arts, land and water sports, fitness, riding and special programs. In cabin life, Middlers live in cabins with other two-week campers and with counselors specifically selected to guide each girl’s camp experience. With the help of their counselors, girls develop deep relationships as they consider different perspectives and navigate relationships over an extended timeframe. Achieving success in activities and enhancing interpersonal skills is rewarding and empowering, resulting in heightened self-confidence which is generalized to each girl’s life outside of camp.

Girls who attend Lochearn’s two-week program, typically do so on an introductory basis with the goal of returning in subsequent summers to Lochearn’s four or eight-week programs. Longer camp sessions provide more opportunity for us to help children further enhance their independence as well as their interpersonal, problem solving and activity skills.

If your daughter is still uncertain about a four or eight-week stay, let us introduce her to the world of overnight camping through our two-week program, which is available on a limited basis for girls entering grades 3rd through 7th in the fall of 2013.

Regardless of which two-week session your daughter attends, she will be warmly welcomed to our community of goodness and will return home with meaningful friendships, enhanced confidence and delightful memories of her time at camp. Special friendship dances and parties (when four-week campers create handmade gifts and sentimental cards for their Middler friends) send Session A and C girls home with feelings of love, friendship and closure. Session B and D girls are enthusiastically greeted by the entire camp following a Blue/Green Team Event. Middlers are instantly embraced by the community, as four-weekers cheer, sing and clap to celebrate their arrival.
