Lochearn's Community of Goodness

Underlying all the joy and merriment that shapes each day at Lochearn is a commitment and thoughtful approach from the directors and staff to create and sustain a caring community which encourages and celebrates the goodness in children and which helps each child move into the world with a sense of security and optimism.

 Imagine a community committed to kindness, a place where fun and caring go hand in hand and where girls feel free to express themselves and extend their limits without pressure to conform or fear of ridicule. Each summer we create a community where Lochearn girls celebrate their childhood, discover the simple joys of playing, laughing and sharing good times with friends in a safe, carefree and wholesome environment.

Lochearn is Family

Girls make friends easily at Lochearn. With 175 girls, the camp is small enough to know everyone, yet large enough so that new friendships continue to develop all summer. Cabin groups grow very close, but since each girl's daily schedule is built around her own interest, her friendships extend throughout camp.

Tradition, Fun and Friendship

Events such as the highly spirited and friendly competitions between the Blue and Green teams, Sunday evenings on Campfire Hill, Banquet Night, the Creative Arts Gala, and the annual Candle Boat and Pine Cone Ceremony are as much a part of Lochearn today as in the past.

The surprise and excitement of evening programs round out each day in the tradition of Lochearn Spirit. Girls enjoy weekly cookouts and campfires on the Point, skit nights and talent shows, counselor hunts and many special celebrations such as Fourth of July, international nights, Hawaiian luaus, carnivals, and much more.

Activities

With more than 40 activity offerings to chose from within the areas of land and water sports, studio and performing arts, horseback riding, and outdoor adventure, Lochearn is a camp for everyone.

Each girl designs her own activity schedule sampling from a range of activities or focusing on areas that most interest her. While each day has structure, that structure is built around each girl's own schedule which she has determined and is immensely excited to explore!

Each girl has four activities on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and four different activities on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. Girls can redesign their activity schedules every two weeks choosing from beginner, intermediate and advanced level classes. Each afternoon, girls enjoy a free choice period which they can spontaneously choose from a variety of fun and exciting offerings including waterskiing, open waterfront, open gym, tennis tournaments, stable management, theatre rehearsals, sailing regattas, and many unique and special offerings in     sports and studio arts.
